A Sip of Love

In the hush of night, where shadows creep,
The world is wrapped in silence, deep,
But in my arms, a life anew,
A tiny heart, a gentle coo.
The moonlight spills through curtains drawn,
A silver glow on the sleeping lawn,
Yet here I sit, in this soft glow,
Nurturing love that continues to grow.
Whispers of dreams float far away,
As time drips slowly—night becomes day,
The clock ticks softly, a lullaby’s tune,
While crickets chirp, under the watchful moon.
Each sigh, each stretch, a fleeting moment,
In this midnight realm, where love is potent,
Tiny fingers wrap around my hand,
A connection woven, endlessly spanned.
The world outside is still and vast,
But here in this haven, time does not pass,
For every milky sip, a bond is spun,
In the quiet hours, two hearts beat as one.
The gentle rustle, the peep and the sigh,
In the cradle of night, as stars flicker by,
While sleep may beckon, so sweet, so near,
I find all my dreams gathered right here.
So I savor each minute, this whisper of night,
In the soft glow of love, everything feels right,
For in the stillness, with you by my side,
I welcome each heartbeat, with joy and with pride.

This is a poem I created about nursing my baby during the middle of the night/early AM. So sweet this journey has been for me and each baby. I never realized how special it would be for me, to just sit and nurture a little human.
